Logistics and Supply Chain contribute significantly to Southeastern and Central Europe 's economic growth and their role is constantly enhanced during the last years. Indicatively it is stated that, in Romania, in the years 2000-2006, the average increase of turnover of transport services was 22,7% (in terms of value) according to the World Bank. In Greece and Bulgaria, the relevant percentages were 15,3% and 14% respectively, leading, among others, to the creation of modern distribution centers and facilities.
Supply Chain Directors and Logistics Managers, therefore, undertake even more responsibilities resulting to emerging needs for qualitative training, information and supply chain management know-how.
The Supply Chain Institute of Southeastern & Central Europe Ltd (SCISCE) was founded in Athens, in October 2007, aiming at:
- Transferring and developing logistics know - how in Southeastern & Central Europe
- Enhancing information, networking and logistics know - how exchange among supply chain stakeholders in the region
- Monitoring and analyzing current trends in regional markets concerning logistics and supply chain
- Certifying professional qualifications of staff and managers in the Logistics and Supply Chain field
