Forthcoming measures for the enhancement of the SMEs' supply chain were announced by the General Secretariat of Commerce (Hellenic Ministry of Development) during the congress "Logistics & Economic Crisis". The congress took place at the 8th of February in Athens simultaneously with the trade exhibition "Supply Chain & Logistics", under the scientific support of PLANNING and the SUPPLY CHAIN INSTITUTE OF SOUTHEASTERN & CENTRAL EUROPE.

Three new measures to enhance supply chain management for SMEs in the service and trade handled by the General Secretariat of Commerce to announce immediately. In his speech during the conference «Logistics in times of economic crisis," held on February 8 in Athens in the report "Supply Chain & Logistics» under the scientific support and consultancy PLANNING Institute of Supply Chain Southeastern and Central Europe the Secretary of Commerce, Mr. Dimitrios Skiadas, announced the following:

2. There are considerations for future support of businesses to participate in organized networks (clusters) through which will create synergies and to track the supply chain, development and exploitation of common infrastructure logistics. Expenditure under consideration can be enhanced to include the cost of studies for software and software supply automation for the entire network in order to achieve economies of scale (ERP, WMS, Supply Chain Management Solutions, EDI) and generally spending aimed at reducing the cost supply chain.
3. As the investment grants through the Development Law, the Ministry of Development will bring to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the issue of reducing the minimum investment of ? 700,000 to around 200,000 euros, as more realistic about the possibilities of the vast majority of businesses operating in the area.
Mr. Skiadas recalled the changes that have occurred and the amount of subsidies through the Law Today the rate is between 20% - 40% depending on the area of ​​installation, which for micro and small businesses and increased to 20% for medium-sized businesses up to 10%, depending on the location.
"Today, we are in the era of so-called Lean Warehouse: warehouse which employs as little as possible - but highly capable workforce-has few fixed costs, maintain the best possible way the existing equipment and dampens ependytheises costs already burden, "said Secretary of Commerce. In an era of decline in retail sales in Greece (-15% from September 2008), better use of existing resources, synergies with other companies and specialized services added Mr. Skiadas.
